I Heart... iPhone Apps

Happy Friday! This morning I'm beginning a new series here on the blog designed to help you get to know me just a little bit better.

I like to purposely fill my life with stuff I love, create an environment that is conducive to a productive business and life, and spend time with people who fill me up. I think it's only fair that you guys get to see that side of me too- not just the girl behind the camera who posts previews and raves about her incredible clients (they are awesome, though!) all the time. So, today, I want to share with you about some of the tools I use on a regular basis to keep me up to date with friends, figure out how to run a better business, and much more.

I've been working on my slight iPhone addiction recently, and in doing so, have narrowed down tons of apps I once had on my iPhone to just a few I actively use and love. Here they are!

Instagram. This may be an obvious one, but I love it. There's something about seeing life through another's eyes, not just their words, and I love keeping up with friends via this social app.

Shazam. I'm that girl who is always wondering what song is playing. I use Shazam all the time when I'm listening to the radio, in a store, or at a friend's house to figure that out! It helps me know what songs I need to add to my large iTunes library- and soon!

Google Maps & AroundMe. I don't even want to think about what would happen if I didn't always have a GPS with me while driving! I'm not even kidding- I still confuse some of the major roads in my hometown. It's bad! Needless to say, Google Maps is the most reliable map application I've found in the App Store, and I find myself taking advantage of it more than I would care to admit. AroundMe is my favorite app to find a good coffee shop, restaurant, or any other place I'm looking for nearby. It works so well with Google Maps, and lets you move quickly between the two apps. Love it!

Passbook. I know this is now built into the iPhone, but I don't think enough people take advantage of it! This may be my favorite app right now- and for good reason. Passbook allows me to add gift cards and memberships to various stores all into one app, and creates a "pass" that can be scanned at the check-out counter of each store. I even changed a setting to allow the app to know when I'm nearby a favorite store I've saved (such as a Starbucks) and have my gift card waiting for me on my iPhone when I arrive there! It's so easy and keeps all those extra cards and receipts out of my wallet. A win-win for sure!

Rise. This is the app I use the most for my business. It has one function- to tell me what time the sun will rise and set each day. As a photographer, I need to know this information, as it helps me schedule my session times in relation to when the sun will come up or set daily. Photogs- grab this one! It's worth it.

VSCO CAM + Whitagram. These are the top photo apps I use on a regular basis. VSCO CAM has a series of filters for iPhone photos that I can't get enough of, and Whitagram is what I use to get that white border around some of the photos you see on my Instagram. I use them often to pretty up my images before I share them with you all.

Pages. I use Pages frequently to keep up with my Facebook business page on the fly. I limit what I do for work on my iPhone, and only check this app when I've been out all day and need absolutely need to, but it's perfect for when I need to keep tabs on the page. I can manage my page, respond to messages, and even post content straight from the app.

There you have it! These are the apps I use the most. And remember- PASS, my new gallery system, allows clients to create their own personalized app too! I just love that. Enjoy your weekend friends, and I'll be back on Monday to share a few sneak peeks from this weekend's sessions! It's going to be wonderful. Much love!
