photo challenge: vintage

In keeping with one of my New Years' goals, I'm entering another photo challenge. The theme of this one is vintage... a much loved topic for me. I love almost anything vintage, especially books. I collect vintage copies of Louisa May Alcott books. Random sidenote.

Ahem. Moving on. My entry...

Wishing you a sweet day!

photo challenge: self-portrait

As Carlotta said in this post, we photographers are usually the ones behind the camera, rather than in front of it.

This photo is one of those hold- the- camera- as- far- away- from- yourself- as- possible shots. :) I like the light that the beginning of a gorgeous sunset provides. That's when I took this one.

saturday's ramblings

it's the weekend. Oh, yes it is. Sweet Saturday. Thank goodness for Saturdays, right?

they're home! I could not be more excited right now... M at dis fromage posted that her little brother is HOME! Check it out. He is so precious.

yesterday. More snow. Yeah, I couldn't believe it either. But I gave in, pulled out the camera and put the boots on, and took some pictures. The light was perfect. I love natural light, so this was heaven for me... even if it was really cold.

tonight. I'm off to a birthday party for one of my best friends tonight, and can't wait. I love my friends. Pictures are to come, I'm sure.

wednesday wishes

1. to go back to chicago.

It's one of my favorite cities ever. And while I'm at it, maybe I'll go to Boston, New York City, and San Diego. :) A girl can dream, right?

2. to own a cherry red mini cooper.

Again. A girl can dream. This is definitely my ideal, dream car. What's yours?

3. to have one day of summer in the midst of these chilly days.

I'm starting to cave. It is absolutely freezing cold today. I'm trying not to think about sand, the ocean, and warm weather.

4. to open an Etsy shop.

I've been thinking about it for a while now... maybe someday soon I will!

5. for you to link up to wednesday wishes too!

Please leave me a comment if you do so that I can read yours!

Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday!

sunlight and blue skies

I'm back! What an incredibly crazy weekend I had. It was great, but I am so glad to be home and relaxing a bit.

Over the past few days, it has been really warm out... around sixty degrees some days! Naturally I took out the camera to take advantage of the sunlight and blue skies. It was so refreshing to be able to add more color than usual to my shots.

Yesterday it was rather rainy, which I'll admit that I love. Rain is a good thing... usually.

I really should mention that it's snowing again today. I'm happy, because we got to enjoy the beautiful weather last weekend... and it's still cold enough to wear boots and scarves again.

Here's to your Tuesday being a good one! SHARE THIS POST

a break from blogging

This weekend has been craaaazy. So, I will be taking a break from blogging and spending time with my wonderful family instead. Be back tomorrow or Tuesday!

I do love a good sunset.

Yes, I do.

And last night's was particularly amazing.

When I see a sky like this, I feel so much closer to God. I love it.

happy thursday

It's going to be in the sixties today. I'm excited... although I'll miss the snow. Maybe it'll come back later this month. Who knows! But until then... some other pictures from the snow that I got right before it started to melt. I'd love to know what you think.

Is your Thursday going well? Hope so! Definitely take a peek over here- it's one of my favorite blogs, and it has been redesigned. Take a peek! It's sure to brighten your day!

a splash of color

Over the weekend, my friends and I headed to a concert. It was incredible to say the least. There's just something about being with two of your best friends in the world, laughing at everything, buying overpriced cotton candy and hot wings, poking around the venue, and then the music. Oh my gosh, the music. It's fantastic. But the best part? It's all for Christ. All that energy... the  excitement... it's for Him. Sure, seeing bands we all love is a plus. And electric green skinny jeans do make for an interesting conversation. Ahem. Oh, and stifling laughter during a serious part of the night just because one of us got the giggles is great too. Because it's for Him.

Sometimes you really need that experience, that joy that comes from a night like the other night. It adds a splash of color to your life, you know?

Speaking of.

I love the little splash of color one of these quick little guys brings to the pure beauty of winter.

The red against the blue almost looks patriotic, don't you think?

Did you have a good Valentine's day yesterday? I created some homemade valentines that I think turned out pretty great. If I do say so myself. ;) Hope it was a good day for you.

Enjoy your Tuesday! I know I am. SHARE THIS POST

the weekend? why, yes please!

Helloooooo Friday. I'm ready for the weekend. How about you?

This year I've been challenging myself to enter more, well, photo challenges. That's why almost every photo in this post will be linked up somewhere. :) In case you were wondering.

This isn't anything I really learned... but I know for sure that macro is my favorite effect when it comes to photography. I love it.
I took this one near our house recently... I love the moss.

And, since photography and photo challenges are a few of my favorite things... I'll slap one of these cute buttons on the post and call it a day! :)

Happy Weekend!

I still love winter.

I really hope you're not too sick of winter photos... because I have quite a few in this little laptop of mine! ;)

I still love winter.

I have to keep telling myself that when it's this cold out. I'm talking negative seven, nine, and eleven degrees early in the morning and late at night. I still love winter. I really do. I love bundling up in my coat, grabbing a scarf from my -ahem- rather large stash, and pulling on mittens and a hat (as long as I didn't spend too much time on my hair, ha). Don't get me wrong- around the end of February this will all get old. I'll yearn for the beautiful flowers, green grass, and not having my toes freeze in my shoes anymore... but for now...

I still love winter.

I'm content to come in from sledding to a cup of hot tea, a fire in the fireplace, and a good book.

I still love winter.

And, a quick quote before I finish  my rambles for the day.

Enjoy the little things in life, for someday you will realize they were the big things.

Have a wonderful Thursday!
