In 2011.

Goals, hopes, plans, dreams, etc. for the year to come.

Hi / Bye!

Quick post.

I love this photo. Hope you had a Merry Christmas!

Arctic Tundra. Oh, and Merry Christmas {Eve}.

It's Christmas Eve...

And I'm lovin' it.

It kind of looks like the Arctic Tundra. Ha...

Remember the reason for the season! 2000 Decembers ago, the miracle that saved us arrived. Best present ever? I think so.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good night.

On Cloud Nine

I'm on cloud nine because....

I figured out how to do Christmas tree bokeh. Ha! Click on the button above to check out all the other entries.

Mele Kalikimaka.

As a result of more snow, and thus not being able to get to my hair trimmed today... I spent the afternoon making these vintage cameras out of natural wood, among other things. Including listening to Christmas music entirely too loud. There's this one song our radio station is playing this year... Mele Kalikimaka. It means "Merry Christmas to You" in Hawiian. It kind of annoys me... but seriously, it's fun to say. Try it... I dare you. Ready? Ma-lay key-li-ki-ma-ka. See? Bonus points if you go say it to someone... better yet, call them and say it. Or say it to a complete stranger. Then hand them a candy cane. Moving on.

So, I sat at my desk, with my Ugg slippers on, humming that crazy song and relishing life. And LOVING the newest addition to my room shimmering away, right above me.

I attached icicle lights to my swirly mirror above my desk. I love it. It's kind of intoxicating... whenever I'm in my room these lights are ON! I love them. What do you think?

I was thinking as I glued the little wooden parts together to form unique camera-look-alikes... about when I made the first one. I loved how it looked, but it needed a little something extra- something to contrast that light wood. It needed something to balance it. So I picked up a Sharpie.

Love. That's the little something extra that we need. It's what keeps us balanced... the love of God, our friends, and our family. That's the little something extra my cameras needed, and what we all need.

Okay. Time for a bit of "advertising". Or maybe I should call it... friendly suggestions for cute things. :) I'm wearing my favorite top today... my 147 shirt. Click below for their site.

And also- a For Isabella bracelet. They've sold 1606 of their goal of 3000 bracelets... all money earned from the sales of these beautiful creations go to bring their little girl home. Click below to head over to help.

Starfish Cleft Home

So now these little creations are sitting on my postcard box. They make me smile. And remember that the greatest of these is love.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to eat pizza with my family in front of a warm fire, and relax with my handmade flannel quilt and a book. Life is good, people. I hope that can be said for your life now too.

Mele Kalikimaka.....

what winter means

Winter means...

Fires. Real, wood-burning fires in our fireplace.

Snow. Fluffy, light, sugary snow that coats the sheds and barns around our house and makes them look like gingerbread houses.

Christmas. Buying, wrapping, and giving gifts. I love wrapping gifts... check out these great tips for gift wrapping at Oh, Hello Friend.

Welcome. Welcoming friends and family into our home to celebrate this season...

Gather. What a word... it holds so much meaning in its six letters... and I can't wait to do it. I can't wait to see my family for Christmas and after... whoever first said it was right- this truly is the most wonderful time of the year.

What does winter mean to you?

so ready.

I am so looking forward to this weekend.

I get to spend tomorrow giving coats to people who desperately need them. They'll also receive a big box of food and toys for their kids. But the most important gift they'll receive is the message of Jesus. I'm so ready for God to move this weekend!

In other news, I'm entering yet another photo challenge. Tis the season for them, it seems. :)

This photo is a favorite of mine right now... it's definitely not wintry at all, but I love the color and the detail.

snowy weekend...

I have had the most relaxing weekend over the past few days. Ah. So nice.

Yesterday, Saturday, I saw the new Chronicles of Narnia movie with a bunch of friends. That was excellent- highly reccomended. :) Then they all came over and we ate pizza, ran around the house and tried to get rid of all that extra energy left over after you sit through a two hour movie and can't go outside because it's sleeting/raining/snowing. {Excuse me as I pause for breath.} It was a great day.

Today, we did not go to church because... of... a... BLIZZARD WARNING. Yes. All 2-3 inches of snow that we got makes for a blizzard warning?! What?! Apparently it was the wind that was the deciding factor here. Then, all of my "activities" for this afternoon were cancelled. I actually didn't mind the day at home. We watched football and a movie... I drank a big mug of tea, then switched and went for some coffee. :) It was extremely relaxing.

Moving on.

I am entering this photo in Aspire's Christmas Photo Challenge...

Aspire Photo Challenge

It's extremely simple, but I think that simple beauty is, in essence, the beauty of winter.

And here are a few others from the beautiful snow that has been everpresent over the past few days! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Oh! And I'd love to hear what you think of the new blog design. I always like hearing what people have to say! And do you prefer the huge photos like in this post, the size I normally post them as, or something in between? Thanks!

a promise...

I will definitely get caught up on this crazy blog a new header for Christmastime this WEEKEND! :) Sorry for being so behind.
